So you are soon going to be bringing a new bundle of joy into the world. You are ready to start planning the name, clothes and parenting techniques, but what about the fun part? One of the most exciting parts of having a baby is being able to plan the decor of the baby nursery.  Not only do you as the parent have full control over the decor, but the possibilities are endless.  So get to work on choosing the perfect nursery for your little peanut.

Character and Themed Nursery

One of the most popular ways to decorate a nursery is with a character or a theme. This not only gives your baby focal points and stimulating features, but gives them something that they can carry with them throughout their life.

Think Beyond Pink

The traditional color for a baby girl’s nursery is pastel pink. However, that color can become extremely boring. Other colors for a baby girl room will give it personality, individualism and a unique look. If you want to stick with pink, go with a bright pink or fuchsia, raspberry or coral. You can also go with purple for a girl’s nursery.

Other colors that you can use as either the main color or an accent are soft green, lime green, sage green, turquoise, yellow and orange.

Think Beyond Blue

Baby blue, like pastel pink, has really been overdone with baby nurseries. Try to go a little out of the ordinary and choose a color palette that will give the nursery some style. You can still use blue, but try to go with a royal blue, navy, turquoise or aqua.  Green is another great choice for a boy’s nursery. Try kelley green, soft green, sage green or forest green. Some great accent colors are gray, brown, yellow, orange and red.

Geometric Shapes

One design option for baby nurseries that can work with baby boy and girl rooms is geometric shapes.  Whether you go with circles, squares, triangles or even lines, the shapes create a modern and stylish touch for any nursery.  Want to go real crazy? Try swirls within the decor.
